Zambia’s top striker Patson Daka will be back for selection on Wednesday in junior Chipolopolo’s second Group C match against Iran at the FIFA Under-20 World Cup. Team physician Dr Mwila Lupasha has declared Daka, who was carried off the pitch after 42 minutes in the 2–1 win over Portugal, fit for selection. Dr Lupasha with Daka and Luchanga in training this evening Dr Lupasha says Daka has shown signs of steady recovery and was involved in this evening’s training session. Dr Lupasha says Daka suffered a laceration on the lower lip which was mended and only lasted less than 24 hours to stabilise. “The treatment started yesterday. Today, he is feeling much and we wanted to access him to see how he is doing in the training and be ready for Wednesday’s game,†he said. “From what I have assessed, he should be ready for the game.†Dr Lupasha Dr Lupasha also explained that Luchanga was well on the recovery path after he, too, was withdrawn in the second half for an injury in the back. “Luchanga had a small wound on the buttock. We had to dress him before the match, but the dressing came off so that’s the blood you saw. “But otherwise he is good and fit for the game. There is nothing serious. The team overrall is in good health. They are ready psychologically,†he said. Zambia face Iran at 17:00 hours local time [10 AM Zambian time] on Wednesday.
