By Joe Mwansa Lombe Kaluba I have not spoke about the issue surrounding United Party for National Development (UPND) Hakainde Hichilema aka HH because of two main reasons. The first one is because the issue is still in the court of law and secondly because l always want to avoid popcorn reaction. I always want to read between the lines. Today l am motivated to say something because l believe my voice can add a point or two. The other reason is because of the letter or press conference whatever you want to call it by our so called Three Church mother bodies. First of all l want to highlight how a mother should behave. We are talking about church mother bodies aren’t we? A good mother doesn’t use emotions when trying to bring about peace or love between or rather among her family or children. A good mother seeks to put her interests aside before making judgement. She first puts the interest of the weaker members of the family first. If anyone or any group of people or organisations want to claimed that they are mother bodies yet they don’t element themselves to the above characteristics then they are hypocrites. Today the Church mother bodies can find a voice and speak for HH and yet keep quiet and ignore the many prisoners who are physically and psychologically in prison. I understand that the nature and status of HH needs caution when handling it because of the bad image it might show to the outside world. However speaking as a social and political scientists l think focusing too much on this will just show that we can not face our own issues without fearing to be judged. We are an independent country. We solve things our way without any outside or personal interest from those willing to speak for others. I don’t hate HH and l don’t hate UPND. What l don’t like is people and groups who are not able to move with everyone. We had elections we have a new government so let’s move on and development this our country. Those or things which want to divide or draw us backwards must not be entertained. Hypocritical stances should not be condoned. I know all those leaders representing many followers of Christ have a role to play in our democratic process. However l believe thinking you are wiser than others will just bring about confusion. We have to be smart especially when we talk about how religion or Faith Based Organisation can influence change or bring about misunderstandings. In some parts of the world there has been or there is conflict because of the role religion played. My advise to the church leaders is to think twice before issuing any emotional statements. Let us not quote the Bible when we can’t even hold a simple briefing on the many prisoners who are in jail. The church leaders today want to suggest that Zambia is a dictatorship country. We have some things to work on as a democracy but we are more closer to being a democracy where all attributes are enjoyed. Suggesting otherwise is both hypocritical and popcorn reasoning. I have always alluded to in all my writing that we only have one Zambia. Hence it is us her citizens who need to nature it. In this regard before issuing any statement or doing anything we should always put the interest of everyone first. Not an individual. As government, political parties, religious organisations, Nongovernmental organisations, the media, professional bodies and simple citizens alike we should all play our part in uniting this our Zambia. Journalist Tilyenji Mwanza has advised opposition FDD spokesperson Antonio Mwanza to consult his facts and stop spreading falsehoods regarding emoluments of lawmakers. In response to Antonio’s recent write-up in which he accused parliamentarians of thieving, Tilyenji bluntly asks Mwanza to “stop lying” “I hate to disagree with Antonio Mwanza because he is one of the very few political commentators whose opinion really matters to me. *ANTONIO MWANZA IS LYING* *…Someone needs to give him better Investigative journalism skills* I hate to disagree with Antonio Mwanza because he is one of the very few political commentators whose opinion really matters to me. After I saw his screaming headline on what has become one of my favourite social media sites Zambia Reports alleging that Members of Parliament walk away with about K100 000 a month, my radar ticked and I decided to carry out an investigation and boy was I disappointed to find out that my brother was not being factual, he was basing his argument on inaccurate information. *FDD SECRETARY GENERAL, MWANZA IS LYING* By Tilyenji Mwanza The Net Pay of a member of parliament as of March sitting was K3 768 contrary to Antonio Mwanza’s reported K100 000. I spoke with nominated member of parliament Lucky Mulusa who is also minister of National Development on these allegations of their hefty salaries. The Minister was appalled by Antonio’s ‘imaginary’ figures that he allowed the reporter to publish his pay slips and correct Antonio’s misconception. According to the pay slips made available as of March 2017, members of parliament sitting allowance rate was at K1 500 and that by six sittings amounted to K9 000 but with motel deductions of K5 232 an MPs net pay for the period of 20th Feb to 1st March 2017 amounted to K3 768. With that I pushed my luck a little further and made a query on the salary of ministers. Mr. Mulusa then laughed and said “TJ, my net salary is actually below K8 000 but with a few allowances here and there it comes to around K20 000.” “There is a very wrong misconception and these statements by my young brother can even have us stoned by members of the public as being the one’s drawing so much money from government treasury to pay our salaries. Actually let me look for one of my slips and you can share that too if you like,” Mr Mulusa said. According the pay slip made available, as of August 2016, The approximate basic salary for a minister is just over K20 000. And Mr. Mulusa’s net pay was K7 872.03. I believe arguments should be premised on principle and facts and not hear say. It was for this reason I chose to carry out this investigation however I do agree with Antonio that Members of Parliament need to begin to offer more service to the community because that is why they were put in those positions by the people. Yes this can not necessarily be done from their pockets, but they need to look at how best they can utilise funds such as Community Development Funds. Alternatively members of parliament also need to learn lobbying tactics to help develop their constituencies using the private sector. However accusing them if drawing *K100 000* monthly salary is wrong! And before I pen out, yes this HEAR, HEAR, HEAR in parly like Antonio observes is just sickening can we have constructive legislation debate, it was very embarrassing to hear members of parliament last year say they did not know that they were voting in for introduction of Grade 12 certificate to be one of the requirements to be an MP. My brother Antonio no heart feelings it’s just striving for the TRUTH. The post Tilyenji Mwanza Writes: Antonio Mwanza Can Do Better Than Spreading Falsehoods appeared first on Zambia Reports.

MMD National Secretary Raphael Nakacinda says information vaccum between the ruling party and its citizens is providing ammunition to the opposition to spread falsehoods about the country’s current political situation. Nakacinda says the rule of law should be applicable to all citizens regardless of their position in society. He said the call to have UPND leader Hakained Hichilema released unconditionally was misplaced as the law should be followed to the later without exclusions. He added that the HH case puts to the test the belief in the rule of law by both the PF and the UPND. He said the rule of law should encompass all citizens hence the country should not be seen to tolerate impunity from anyone. Speaking when he featured on Joy FM’s The Platform radio program on Thursday morning, Nakacinda said the information gap between the Government and citizens has led to speculations on important national issues. He urged the Presidency to ensure that it communicates effectively through the holding of regular Presidential press conferences and that Government through the spokesperson should also be clear on the way it communicates to the public. He said it is the ineffectiveness of those in government and the ruling party which is leading to people treading on emotions as opposed to dealing with the real issues on the ground. Nakacinda said the Chief Government spokesperson should help the nation by explaining, informing and providing answers to the people on matters relating to the governance of the country while the Secretary General of the ruling party should clearly also be able to defend the Government. He added that misconceptions will continue as long as the government and the ruling party do not provide clear explanations and provide answers to issues on the ground. And Nakacinda said the people saying the country has become a dictatorship are saying so to advance their personal ambitions at the expense of Zambians. He said such people are not patriotic to the nation and not fit to be leaders because good leaders should put the people first. On the judiciary, the MMD CEO lamented the lack of trust and support saying the judiciary is suffering because the opposition has turnished the image of the institution. He said the Judiciary is not run by zombies who just sit and take orders from State House but that it is run by qualified individuals who have been appointed on merit. He urged Zambians not to put in office a party that has continued to disregard institutions of governance such as the judiciary with their belief that the executive interferes with other arms of governance because they would go into office believing that they should do the same. On the divisions in the church on the governance of the country, Nakacinda regretted that the church which is supposed to be non partisan had multiple voices on a single issue. He said the church is a parent which should have a uniform voice on issues affecting the country and that it should exhaust all channels of consultation before communicating their view and position. Nakacinda also said UPND lawyers were causing anxieties in the country due to their failure to advise their clients on clear matters. He said the UPND lawyers were so rigid on issues that they do not take advise from anyone. The post Call To Release Hichilema Misplaced, says Nakachinda appeared first on Zambia Reports.

Hello admin, Kindly post for me this sensitive issue for public opinion as I earnestly seek sincere and mature advice from both men and women of this group. I’m a man aged 32, looking forward to a perfect and health marital relationship after your sincere and most honest advice. Some three years ago, I married a wife of my youth, a woman I loved so much! Unfortunately, Just after 7 months of our staying together in marriage as husband and wife, the unimaginable happened. I lost my job, my business dramatically crumbled down and within the space of two months I was left with nothing, (including shelter cause I couldn’t manage paying rent anymore.) It was from such a situation that I and (my wife being pregnant at that time) decided to take her at my parent’ place to be kept there for a while as I needed to leave for another town in pursuit of something to do in order to sustain my family, but fortunately enough, my wife’ parents said; considering her condition, she can’t be left at her in-laws. Just bring her here so we can take care of her, as you find anything to do you will come back for her, she’s your wife. It was very kind of them, “I said to my parents in-law.” I took off and spent some good months in another town while coming in intervals and sending them any little I gathered cause my wife and (daughter now) were my everything and I did anything to support them. After a few months later, I noticed my wife started drifting. Communication started dwindling, no call or text if I don’t do so. I began to worry, I wondered why things began going that way. I asked her about it, and all she told me was ‘I have nothing to say.’ That went on until I traveled to see her in person, for sure I found my wife so cold! She couldn’t talk as we did back then, that’s how I went back. Now, one day I received a phone call from someone they have differed with from birth complaining to me about my wife’ behavior, she said please talk to your wife: your wife has been insulting me publicly! And said she was not happy about it. So after a while, about two months later, its when I sat my wife down and asked her about what I was told, OMG!!! I was so shocked how my wife got back on me with lots of insults! She said from today and right now this marriage is over! And am going to tell my parents about this, that you are talking to my enemy, our family enemy. I mean it!! I thought my wife was just so hot tempered at that time so I gave her some time to cool down but to my surprise my wife was growing hotter and hotter! The next thing after some 4 months later was a meeting called by her parents in which I was insulted by her parents to the moon and back! It was so clear that my wife had changed for sure. From that time on, I’ve been pleading that we get back together but my wife has stood her ground that its over just like that! I’ve tried my very best to apologize but all to no avail, as I speak its already two years ago. Our marriage is civil, we can only divorce via high court. I’ve asked her to legally divorce me if really she’s made up her mind but she refuses and say you go if you want your freedom, as for me, I will go when ever I feel ready. Country men and women, this issue is chewing me up! what must I do? I truly love my wife and wants her back but am now getting concerned on how possible it can be for someone who truly loves you to harden their heart like she has done? What step must I take now? Kindly help. Thank you all! MM The post Letter: My Wife Has Suddenly Changed; She Is So Disrespectful appeared first on Zambia Reports.
