Coach Wedson Nyirenda has welcomed the headache of having to select the starting eleven for Saturday’s Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Algeria after a hundred percent turnout of players summoned to duty. Nyirenda told Fazfootball.com at Nkoloma Stadium after the morning training session that competition in the team was very high. “It is always a headache for the coach when you have a lot of good players, but it is our job to look at that. There are a lot of things that we look at. I think it will not be a big problem for us to pick the right team,†he said. “We have a lot of competition, we have a wonderful group in camp. There is too much competition in the team. Everyone is looking forward to play.†All the players summoned to duty have reported to camp except Sweden based Edward Chilufya who has been excused to sort out his resident permit in that country. Meanwhile Nyirenda had all the pieces for Saturday’s Russia 2018 World Cup qualifier with 31 players going through the paces at Nkoloma Stadium. Nyirenda is spoilt for choice with all but one of the summoned players reporting for duty ahead of the clash against Algeria in a Group B encounter set for Heroes Stadium. There was a try-out of the now tested central defence partnership of Stoppila Sunzu and Ziyo Tembo with Fackson Kapumbu and Simon Silwimba in wing back positions while on the other end Billy Mutale and Isaac Shamujompa marshalled the backline with Adrian Chama and Roderick Kabwe completing the formation. Chisamba Lungu and Donashano Malama were in the engine room while a strike partnership of Patson Daka and Brian Mwila was deployed. For the other string there was Enock Mwepu and Kondwani Mtonga at the heart of midfield with Martin Phiri partnering Alex Ng’onga upfront. Augstine Mulenga and Ernest Mbewe took the right and left wings. Algeria is expected in the country on Thursday at 21:00 hours at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport. President Edgar Lungu has helped put on ice the dispute between Mopani Copper Mines and the Copperbelt Energy Corporation by brokering a short term deal that will see power restored to the mining firm. Mopani had threatened to lay off 4, 700 employees if the CEC refused to budge on new electricity tariffs. The mining firm even made the first step to lay off workers but will hold on after CEC agreed to supply power conditionally. BELOW IS A STATEMENT FROM STATE HOUSE. MOPANI, CEC AGREE POWER DEAL ON PRESIDENT’S INTERVENTION LUSAKA, (Wednesday, 30TH August, 2017) Mopani Copper Mines (MCM) and the Copperbelt Energy Corporation (CEC) have reached an agreement that will lead to the resumption of power supply to the mine today. The United Progressive Party has condemned the burning down of Kapalala Market in Ndola’s Masala Township. UPP president Saviour Chishimba has also urged law enforcement agencies to conduct independent investigations on the matter and bring the perpetrators to book. Below is the full statement: THE TORCHING OF KAPALALA MARKET IN MASALA TOWNSHIP OF NDOLA IS EGREGIOUS AND INJURIOUS TO THE SUFFERING MARKETEERS We, in the United Progressive People (UPP), are bewildered by the gutting of Kapalala Market in Masala Township of Ndola. Media reports on this development have left us unruffled. It is unacceptable that destruction of private and public property through unexplained fires continues to ravage the livelihoods of poor marketeers who are already bearing the brunt of caring for their children and orphans at a time that the cost of living has sharply increased. We stand with all the affected marketeers and share in their grief. Our love, prayers and thoughts are with them. UPP appeals to central government to allocate supplementary funding to the Copperbelt Provincial Administration for emergency aid to affected families. Support for the rebuilding of the livelihoods of marketeers must also be rendered speedily. As we have stated before on other similar fires, we urge the fire department and all the security wings of the state to put Zambia first and carry out independent investigations with a view to prosecuting perpetrators of these egregious acts. Should the cause of the inferno be found to be accidental, we urge all local authorities to invest in early fire detection technologies. The peace, unity and stability that our nation has enjoyed since independence must be cherished and jealously preserved by all Zambians across the spectrum. God bless our nation! Saviour Chishimba UPP PRESIDENT #UPP: #Dignity & #Justice for #All! The post UPP Urges Relief Plan for Kapalala Market Victims appeared first on Zambia Reports.
