Recalled press secretary to the Zambian embassy in Washington Cosmas Chilese has paid tribute to President Edgar Lungu for the opportunity to serve his country abroad. Chileshe, whose recall comes after a marital issue, says it has been a rewarding experience to serve Zambian abroad. “I am grateful to President Edgar Chagwa Lungu and the Government of Zambia for affording me the opportunity to serve in Foreign Service as Press Secretary at the Embassy of Zambia in Washington D.C. “It’s been a rewarding experience which I profoundly appreciate,” he writes on his Facebook page. Chileshe has been recalled over his highly publicized affair with popular Televsion personality Maureen Nkandu. Chileshe’s recall from Washington follows a romance turned sour tale after he dumped his wife of many years and children for Maureen. The affair was turning embarrassing for government with Chileshe and his lover turning to social media to defend their relationship. As Maureen and Chileshe dropped guard on their bedroom issues, the affair dragged some of the Zambian diplomatic community that the former’s lover accused of being jealousy. Maureen has a rich relationship CV that includes among other associates the 1988 African Footballer of the Year Kalusha Bwalya. Chileshe follows in the footsteps of other high flying diplomats like Frank Mutubila and his equally celebrity wife Evelyn Mutubila who were recalled over a similar scandal.
