Economic and Equity Party (EEP) President Chilufya Tayali has called on President Edgar Lungu to consider firing Labour Minister Joyce Nonde accusing her of being a letdown. Tayali claims that the Labour Minister has lamentably failed to execute her duties for the last one year. Tayali says Simukoko is lukewarm and does not deserve to handle labour matters. He says since government has been claiming of banning casualization in Zambia, the Labour Minister has failed to protect all the workers on casual basis including at Zesco, University Teaching Hospital and Dangote. He furthermore claims that the government including President Edgar Lungu is scared of the famous Dangote as most of his workers are on casual basis, work in poor conditions and get low wages. Tayali says it is for this reason that he has set February 5th, 2018 a day of national demonstration against casualization in Zambia saying all the workers who will be on casual should join in demonstrating. Meanwhile, the EPP Leader maintains that Roan Member of Parliament Chishimba Kambwili should not be treated as a Hero or as a whistle blower in terms of exposing corruption in government. Tayali says Kambwili was recently in government and was covering up all the corruption that was taking place and that he should be the last person to expose these things because if he was still in office he couldn’t have disclosed anything. It is a very curious case that each time Harry Kalaba speaks these days something of a storm is raised. Even just his innocent postings of his widely followed Facebook page attract cryptic interpretations. When he is not being pushed into planning to resign then someone is cooking about material about President Edgar Lungu planning to fire him. How many times would Kalaba have been fired if every rumour about his dismissal turned out to be true? Kalaba is among the few that bring a semblance of sanity to the Patriotic Front government. Even in the heat of campaigns when some of his colleagues like Chishimba Kambwili became synonymous with rabid attacks against opponents, Kalaba embodied calmness and a high level of sobriety that even his adversaries had to admire him. Even his reign as Foreign Affairs Minister has been relatively commendable serve for that one moment of extreme zealousness when he strayed into a nuclear zone better left to the big boys. Maybe Kalaba is a victim of having once letting his Presidential ambitions open up. After all he had put up his name for the presidential race in the ruling PF. It seems some people have never forgotten and his respectable reputation is viewed with suspicion by his adversaries within the PF. It seems even when he has not declared war there are ghosts that have waged war against him. Is not MMD’s Felix Mutati a victim of the same gang? Anybody exuding prospective potential is being tested and pushed to snap but so far the game is still in the shadows. We wonder how long this shadow boxing will go on before it blows out into a full scale war. The post OPINION: Harry Kalaba – A Victim of His Polished Image appeared first on Zambia Reports.

Expelled Roan Member of Parliament Chishimba Kambwili says he is not talking about corruption in government because he has been removed. Kambwili who has become a crusader against government corruption says that even in his time in cabinet he was always vocal against graft. The Roan lawmaker said that whilst in government he was always raising queries using established channels. Kambwili said that his becoming loud on anti-government sentiments was not a question of sour grapes but that he was merely highlighting wrongs for the betterment of society. “It is not correct to say I am now talking about corruption because I am now outside government. Even when I was in cabinet you can ask I was always making noise on corruption it is just that there are channels that these matters are raised,†he said. Kambwili has been hitting at President Edgar Lungu at every turn despite having been chief cheer leader for the Head of State before he was fired.
