With a running mouth Roan Member of Parliament Chishimba Kambwili is always going to land himself in trouble. This week Kambwili ran himself in trouble in parliament when he was slapped by Copperbelt minister Bowman Lusambo and later ‘baptized’ by Jean Kapata at parliament. That was not the most tragic event honourable Kambwili’s action packed week as he was later to literally venture into toilet politics when he bragged about having once been a supplier of tissue to the household of the equally loud mouthed Patriotic Front deputy secretary general Mumbi Phiri. While we appreciate all the drama that Kambwili is stirring on the political scene we are forced to reflect on what exactly Kambwili is up to. Are his politics merely political rants of a desperate politician or just somebody turning out to be a serial attention seeker? Is there any benefit with Kambwili waking up the nation every day to new allegations of corruption? Even if Kambwili has all of a sudden become a crusader for corruption what then is his strategy? Is it to just blow the whistle every 24 hours on the government? In any case can we point to one credible allegation that he has more just talked about? He has talked President Edgar Lungu amassing wealth in a short time, the alleged corruption around the 42 fire tenders with Home Affairs minister Stephen Kampyongo fingered for sticking his fingers in the till, Kapata having allegedly corrupted by the illegal Mukula tree dealings and many others. Is Kambwili just going to be every day raising allegations? If at all he intends to be relevant in the political realm he has to more than just become a daily sloganeer but has to make better of his causes. He has to make to people take him seriously. Whether or not that is going to win him political points is another matter. The post OPINION: Kambwili and his Daily Corruption Anthems appeared first on Zambia Reports.

Zambia faces Nigeria this afternoon away in a must win Russia 2018 Group B clash at Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo. Both sides come into this titanic clash on the back of a good run of results with Nigeria having tucked away a win and a draw over Cameroun in the last round of qualifiers over Cameroun while Zambia bagged six points over Algeria. The infusion of U-20 starlets that won the Africa Cup of Nations on home soil and had a quarterfinal finish at the FIFA World Cup has given Zambia a reinvigorated outlook with their race to Russia revived. Coach Wedson Nyirenda will welcome back Spartak Moscow’s Fashion Sakala who missed the second leg against Algeria due to a red card and will be part of a speedy frontline that will also have Orlando Pirates signee Justin Shonga, Patson Daka and Augustine Mulenga. Nyirenda could opt to add Liefering midfielder Enock Mwepu to energize his attack with Kondwani Mtonga expected to hold things down in midfield. Skipper Kennedy Mweene will commandeer his troops from the goal area while Ziyo Tembo and Stoppilla Sunzu will partner at the heart of defence. The winning back positions will be taken up by Simon Silwimba and Fackon Kapumbu. Nyirenda has also a prospective option in attack in the jet-heeled Ernest ‘Alteeza’ Mbewe. Zambia should be wary of the danger posed by a front loaded Nigeria attack that has Odion Ighalo, John Obi Mikel, Victor Moses and Kelechi Iheanacho among others. Zambia has been known to come to the party when the stakes are high with the motivation to fell the Super Eagles in their backyard a motivation for the Chipolopolo. Nigeria leads Group B on 10 points and is itching to wrap up the tussle but a resurgent Zambia, hot on their heels with seven points believe they could still make it to Russia with the group still open. Cameroun and Algeria have fallen off on three and one point respectively. The two sides have met 17 times with Zambia winning five times and drawn as many games while Nigeria has come tops on seven occasions. Pay television channel SuperSport will beam the match live on SS3, SS9 and select at 17:15 hours. (Source: FAZ MEDIA) The post Zambia In Swim Or Sink Affair In Uyo appeared first on Zambia Reports.

Unionised Lectures at the Copperbelt University have downed tools demanding that management pays them their September salaries. The Lecturers and Staff are demanding that management pays them their salaries for September which was supposed to be paid to them by 28th. Copperbelt University Academics Union (CBAUA) Acting General Secretary Willie Ngosa who confirmed the developed said that lectures will not get back to work until their salaries are paid. Ngosa has complained that management has been given enough time to put its house in order and the issue of delaying salaries has gone for too long without being addressed. He said the Unionised lecturers have vowed to not to go back to work until management meets its obligations. ““Effect from today we have officially withdrawn our labour, we will only go back to work once each member is paid, we have to go out of our way to find money to feed our families, we have families to look after†Ngosa said. “We can’t continue working when we haven’t been paid and this is very disappointing especially on the part of government, our agreements are clear that salaries are supposed to be ready by 28th of every month and that five days delay we take action†He wondered why government has continued to spend huge sums of money on less important issues but is failing to fund institutions of higher learning in the country. “We are very disappointed; government must be serious when handling these issues. The grant must come on time, institutions of higher learning must be funded on time, and we are very disappointed because we see money being abused in this nation but money to pay workers is becoming a struggle, we are not going to accept that†he stated. Operations at the University have since paralysed following the decision by the Academics Union workers to withdraw labour.
