[SNA] Khartoum -Assistant of the President of the Republic and Deputy Chairman of the National Congress for the Party's Affairs, Engineer Ibrahim Mahmoud Hamid, Wednesday received the Wali (governor) of Gezira State, Mohamed Tahir Aila, and discussed the preparations of Gezira State for the summer agricultural season, especially that plans were made to cultivate 450,000 feddans of durra (sorghum), 625, 000 feddans of groundnut and 100,000 feddans of cotton.

President Edgar Lungu this morning will go back to the campaign front when he touches Rufunsa on his continued introduction of ruling party candidates. The Head of State who on Tuesday had a campaign trip in the nearby Chongwe District introducing candidates will head to Rufunsa before touching Luangwa on Friday. He has been shuttling between routine office duties and the campaign roll as the country gears for the August 11 general elections. Former sports minister in the MMD government Kenneth Chipungu is contesting the Rufunsa seat on the ruling party ticket.
