Wusakile independent Member of Parliament Pavyuma Kalobo has distanced himself from revelations that a private developer involved in the Wusakile Secondary School football pitch saga is targeting Malela Secondary School football pitch. Kitwe DEBS secretary Allan Kaoma said the said investor who has been named as Heriot Properties is targeting some piece of land near Malela Secondary School as an alternative for the construction of a mall after hitting a snag at Wusakile Secondary School. But the parliamentarian has warned that all those involved in such illegalities should stop. He said the Norwegian Government and the Zambian Government through SOS Zambia has signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the construction of a skills centre. Kalobo said he will not allow any activities that will block the expansion of the school in his constituency. “As area Member of Parliament I will not allow such illegality, if some people have received some money, now is the best time for them to pay back because I will not allow such,” Kalobo said. He added that much as the constituency needs investment, developers should follow the right channels and not back doors. “The constituency needs investment but we can’t be doing things without planning. I have put a stop on any plans to allocate the remaining piece of land near the school to allow for the construction of a skills centre. “I have written to the town clerk because I heard that the local authority wanted to give away two plots but I have put a stop to it,” said Kalobo.
