"The project is envisaged to positively impact the beneficiaries by increasing rice and livestock productions based on planned activities," he said.

[Nuba Reports] Although President Omar Al-Bashir announced a ceasefire extension to all three conflict areas until October, sporadic conflict and hunger still plague the Two Areas: South Kordofan and Blue Nile states. The local human rights organization Sudan Democracy First Group cite 15 incidents in April and May of the pro-government militia Popular Defence Force and Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) soldiers looting villages in Delami and Heiban counties in South Kordofan.

[Nuba Reports] The UN Security Council on June 29 voted to reduce the UN-AU Hybrid peacekeeping force in Darfur, UNAMID, by over a third of its troops and police officers. The resolution called for the eventual closure of 18 team sites in two phases, for reducing military personnel to 8,735 and cutting police personnel to 2,500. Previously in 2007, UNAMID had 19,555 military personnel and 3,772 police personnel.
