[New Times] I expected to encounter a chaotic situation of people shouting like they were possessed by demons. This is what crossed my mind when I set off to visit a centre for rehabilitation of mentally ill women. But I was mistaken. Far from what I thought, I found a serene place with peaceful people going about their work normally. At Ndera Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital; women of different ages were getting ready for gardening. You wouldn't tell, that any of them was mentally challenged.

It was surprising to see Zambia’s High Commissioner to South Africa Emmanuel Mwamba push apologetic line on behalf of former FAZ president Kalusha Bwalya over the least votes the soccer icon gave to Rainford Kalaba. Emmanuel is reminding people that Kalusha is an icon, so he is beyond reproach. Are we sure? These are the same people who convinced Kalusha to turn himself into a campaign clown playing big number at rallies last year. If Emmanuel does not understand what the people are discussing on Kalaba, it’s best he uses the time taxpayers are keeping him in South Africa for in a much valuable way than joining a cluster of army worms on the internet who defend the indefensible. Kalusha has enough of such hoodlums. No one has denied Kalusha is an icon, but should we watch our icon walk around with soiled pants without raising awareness? It’s not surprising that these are the same people urging President Edgar Lungu to contest in 2021 even when public opinion is clearly driving the opposite direction. Didn’t they mislead Frederick Chiluba in 2001? Any Emmanuel now looks like fool after saying, “I think he made a Judgement error on Rainford Kalaba by voting for another when Kalaba had a discernible chance of scooping the title, but the ensuing outrage is not justified.” While Emmanuel thinks its an error of judgment, Kalusha believes he made the right call and urges Kalaba to move on. Majority of Zambians including many football experts believe Kalusha’s vote was misplaced. So, where does this put Emmanuel Mwamba? We hope Emmanuel Mwamba can use the time in South Africa in a much sensible way than defending what he least understands. If Emmanuel Mwamba is fatigued, he may as well take up the role of Kalusha’s spokesperson since he seems to be good at being a mouthpiece for former fimo fimo. BELOW IS WHAT MWAMBA PUT UP TO JUSTIFY KALUSHA’S DECISION TO SNUB KALABA Kalusha Bwalya is an Icon Kalusha Bwalya is one of the iconic heroes of Zambia. Wherever I have gone, as a country, we are identified by our Copper, by first president, Kenneth Kaunda and soccer icon, Kalusha Bwalya. Kalu, like KK is a legend we ought to honour than to desecrate his legacy. He will be in the annals of our collective history while many people that try to destroy him will not even be in the footnote of our history. I think he made a Judgement error on Rainford Kalaba by voting for another when Kalaba had a discernible chance of scooping the title, but the ensuing outrage is not justified. Kalusha has repeatedly demonstrated again and again, over the years his commitment, loyalty and patriotism to our country that to doubt it is to question our own patriotism. So guys step back, step back out of your raging emotions and remember that Kalusha Bwalya is a greater part of our soccer heritage. Agriculture Minister Dora Siliya bit the bullet by responding to his critics over her recent holiday in the United States at the time the country is in the heat of an army worm attack of maize. Siliya never shy to give it all said that she never carried the Ministry of Agriculture with her wherever she went stressing that government departments remained functioning in the absence of ministers. She said that her counterpart at the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries had been acting in her absence hence having the situation under control. The flamboyant Petauke lawmaker was reportedly on holiday in Los Angeles with her lover and captured public attention with photographic depiction of her trip where she famously got a picture with former World Boxing Champion Mike Tyson. Siliya said that the ministry had a permanent secretary and directors to take up roles in her absence. “It is the Ministry of Agriculture and not the Ministry of Dora Siliya, I didn’t carry the whole Ministry with me on holiday,†she said. On reports in the Namibian press that she had gone on holiday with the husband of daughter to Namibian President Hage Geingob Siliya said that Zambians enjoyed talking about trivial matters. “We are in the middle of a serious outbreak of pests eating our maize fields and people want to start discussing trivial issues? Let us get serious as Zambians,†she said. Siliya is back in the country and getting on with her official duties. FAZ chief Andrew Kamanga met with FIFA president Gianni Infantino yesterday with the World soccer governing body leader assigning a delegation to supervise the Annual General Meeting that will tackle constitutional amendments in March. Kamanga, who was in Zurich as part of the FIFA Awards, met with Infantino and held discussions touching on technical assistance and matters around youth and women football. In an interview with bolazambia, Kamanga disclosed that FIFA will hold a youth and women football summit next month in Johannesburg at which Zambia will make a presentation on behalf of 15 countries. European countries Turkey and Sweden will be part of this conference. Meanwhile, the FAZ AGM will be the final deadline in meeting the FIFA directive to reduce the Electoral College from 350 to 80 to bring it in tune with FIFA Statutes. FAZ has circulated the proposal to its members with a structure that will see provincial assemblies precede an elective AGM. Provincial assemblies will elect and send representatives to the AGM to cast their ballot. Kamanga said Infantino reiterated the message that no member will be disadvantaged by the constitutional changes. Kamanga explains that the proposed adjustment to the statutes partly target to reduce the size of the Electoral College to enable council meetings become more efficient and effective in decision making. Lower division clubs had initially raised an outcry that the changes will remove them from the football structure, but the FAZ boss says the idea will greatly benefit individual clubs who will retain full members of the Football Association of Zambia. Kamanga attended the FIFA Congress that voted unanimously to increase the number of world cup participants from 32 to 48 starting in 2026. [Ghanaian Chronicle] Ever since the results of the 2016 elections were declared, I expected President John Mahama would have been rushing and doing or trying to do his best to improve his position and to regain some credibility and some of the trust and standing or ground that he and his party have lost in his worst possible nightmare election scenario by showing some remorse and some contrite regret for disappointing most Ghanaians by apologising to them for the broken promises and for the lost opportunities and for the misma
