A plane crash in Mwinilunga, North Western Province has claimed the life of one person, police spokesperson Esther Katongo has announced. The two seater plane number 9 JYR V white in colour crashed killing the pilot identified as 65-year-old Charles Rea of Kawiko area. Katongo says Rea, a Zambian of Irish origin, met his fate at about 08:30 AM at Kawiko Airstrip in Mwinilunga District. The plane is reported to have crashed after the pilot lost control whilst on the runway before taking off. It off and only flew at a height of 50 meters before crashing to the ground. The pilot died on the spot after sustaining head injuries. Katongo said the body of the deceased has been retrieved from the scene and is at Kaleni Mission Hospital mortuary.
