Roan MP Chishimba Kambwili says the conflicting statements by police and presidential spokesperson Amos Chanda on the presence of a horde of police at his residence last Sunday smacks of deception. Kambwili says while the Copperbelt police chief claims only one officer was assigned to his residence, a State House official had a different version of events stating it were actually ACC officers trailing him. The outspoken PF founder has dared government not to waste time, but move in and arrest him if he has committed any crime. READ KAMBWILI’S STATEMENT RELEASED THIS EVENING Deception at its finest. On Sunday morning I woke up to a horde of police officers right outside my house, this happened in full view of 3 other people who were equally shocked. On Sunday afternoon I called the police command in Luanshya and asked them why they would deploy so many officers at my house and what would the reason be for such drastic action, the command refused and stated in. I uncertain terms that they have no idea of any such operation and that not a single officer came from them. On Monday morning Copperbelt Police Commissioner attempted to cover up the unnecessary police presence outside my house. In order to do so and whilst intending to paint me a liar or lunatic the police chief claimed only one police officer was sent. One still wonders why a police officer would be sent to spy on me before I wake up. How come the command in Luanshya had no idea of what was going on under there nose ? On Tuesday morning I received a warning from a junior member of the party Kamba. Warning me not to drag the PF through the mud, Kamba forgot that the police service does not belong to the PF and I did not address the PF because it was not the PF marooned outside my house, this kind of excitement and inexperience is likely to dent the image of the party because this scenario had nothing to do with the PF. On Tuesday evening Presidential spokesperson Amos Chanda contradicted the police command on the Copperbelt and claimed not even one officer was sent and if the magic 25 we saw were from any government institution then it would be the ACC, the reason Amos Chanda gave was that the ACC has concluded there investigations and thus are now trailing me to further conclude their investigations, when have we ever heard the ACC following a citizen accused of corruption ? And if indeed the ACC have concluded investigations why would they still need to follow my every move. The bigger question is why is the presidential spokesperson getting involved in a matter between myself and the police, and why does he have a completely different version of events as compared to the police command. It is quite clear that we are not running mad, the police did gather outside my house, they weren’t sent by the Luanshya command, but one was sent by the police commissioner because I was about to hold a press conference which I had no idea about. The level of inconsistency is alarming, I would appreciate if the police or the ACC could either leave me alone or arrest me. Zambia reports, I just want to thank you for your unwavering support and enthusiasm you have tried to show in the media fraternity especially of late. For starters, l am one of the few people who have has always criticized you when l see you are going off the way so allow me to be bold enough to also commend you when l see the strides you have shown so far. It’s my humble prayer that the same spirit will be emulated by other media houses and indeed yourselves going forward. It’s an open secret that our media fraternity is polarized, and in order to quench the vice, it’s when institutions like you starting acting and reporting things the way they are. By so doing, you will have Zambians who are well informed and will be able to make good decisions. If today HH does something wrong report as it is, if EL does anything bad, apply the same measure, its only that way that our leaders (be it in opposition or ruling), will be held responsible and questioned for any decisions they will making because at the end of a the day we share the same future – like it or not. For our country to long endure there must be a real collective and all of us and we all must have some stake in that collective. For you, and many other media houses, the question is what you will stand for, what you will assert for. To a certain extent, we all must begin by being for ourselves as a country. As a saying goes, “But if we are only for ourselves or only for our families, or our friends, or our own class or interests – if empathy never reaches beyond our own backyard – then who the hell are we, really?†In all you will be doing, keep asking yourselves that question. Thank you. Mulukisi Muyangwa The post Letter: Our Media Is Polarized appeared first on Zambia Reports.

Dear Madam / Sir, DSTV / Multichoice unfair services My name is Solomon Kimmie using DSTV account number 4273582861. Kindly look into my complaint laid against DSTV/ Multichoice Zambia with regards to thier services/ content to its Zambian subscribers. I’m quite sure DSTV Zambian has + – 2million users and GOTV another 2 million plus all paying cash for its DSTV services on a monthly basis. I’m a Compact plus subscriber on DSTV paying K530 monthly. Then there’s the Premuim option who pay K850 on & normal compact who pay K350 pm. Not forgetting the GOTV subscribers who pay K90 pm. Im sure If you do the numbers , you’ll get a surprisingly massive K amount per month paid to DSTV. Who must be making a million % profit every month. They obviously enjoy the Zambian business. But when corporations gets too big ,they seem to forget thier clients services However much can’t be said about DSTV services rendered to its Zambian clients. I’m 100% sure , if you had to carriy out a physical survey in Zambia. There’d be a bit more then 70 % of Zambians that aren’t happy with the DSTV services. Compliant is as follows 1-Been a compact plus subscriber , we are paying for 12 non English channels. 2-Then we pay for a the weather channel that does not cover the Zambian weather at all. 3- Then pay for a live horse racing channel that is used for betting. Now tell me ? who in Zambia is interested in this channel??. 4- Not forgetting the fact that we pay for repeats. We are subjected to reruns / repeats. I carried out my own brief channel survey. Each channel has no less then 2 repeats per day x 30 days. WOW is staggering. They must be making a massive save venture with the repeats. Again if we had to analyze each channel with the amount of repeats, definitely get a shock. Mind you these repeats can go on for months. In conclusion- a) Why do we have so many repeats. b) Why are we paying for 12 non English channels. Exgample channel 147 is in Afrikaans/ South African language . 99.1% of Zambians cant understand Afrikaans. Besides the 12 non English Channels c) Then why have a weather channel that never covers our Zambian weather & we pay for this. d) Why do have 1 channel solely dedicated to ” how to use the DSTV decoder which runs 24 7 365 e)Horse racing channels that have no relevance to its Zambian viewers. Usually when 1 pays for a service, you’d expect to get valve for money spent. We are paying for Suggestions Solomon Kimmie The post Letter: DSTV/MultiChoice Giving Customers Unfair Service appeared first on Zambia Reports.

President Edgar Chagwa Lungu has challenged the Law Association of Zambia to form a political party and stop hiding behind the curtain of a legal association . Speaking before his departure to Swaziland at Kenneth Kaunda international airport, the head of state took a swipe at the legal body stating that they are abusing a very noble profession. “Let them form a political party let them go ahead. Let them not abuse the profession it is a noble one,” President Lungu said. “I challenge them to form a political party because what they are doing is politics” The Head of State, a lawyer himself, said it is totally unacceptable for LAZ to be playing politics. “To abuse the law, the legal profession I belong to is totally unacceptable it is a very noble profession,” said President Lungu. LAZ has been a critical voice in Zambia’s young democracy often providing checks and balance to the country’s sitting government. The post Pres.
