Lubumbashi Sports Football Club president Kalunga Mpiana says Nkana striker Walter Binene Bwalya is a Congolese national who went AWOL from his club. Kalunga Mpiana says Walter’s real names are Heriter Binene Sabwa and that the Nkana striker’s parents are both Congolese. The revelations puts to rest attempts by Zambia to try sing Walter Bwalya as a Chipolopolo player as doing so may attract sanctions from FIFA. “Binene run away and went to Zambia himself without transfer from the team, ” Mpiana is quoted. “Binene (Walter) is Congolese and both parents are from here (Congo). His father is a pastor and his name is Binene and his mother’s name is Ngoie.” According to records, Walter played for Corboux and Lubumbashi Stars between 2010 and 2012. He was registered by the DR Congo FA as Heriter Binene Sabwa before joining Forest Rangers who sold him to Nkana. Walter claims his father is Zambian while his mom is Congolese. The player has never been issued an International Transfer Certificate (ITC) but continues to feature for Nkana illegally. According to the final crop and livestock assessment report issued by the Ministry of Agriculture, Mechanisation and Irrigation Development, communal farmers increased their yield with an expected harvest of 770 682 tonnes.
