Dear editor What goes up surely comes down. Former Cabinet Office Permanent Secretary Anne Sinyangwe, niece to the late President Micheal Sata, has been sentenced to 12 months simple imprisonment in a case where she illegally awarded a procurement contract worth over K80,000 – to a proxy for Peni Mwamba another Sata relative. When Sata became President Anne was one of those relatives appointed from an obscure civil service position to PS at Cabinet. One of her first actions was to write to the Accountant General Kennedy Musonda to have David Mushinge who was Chief Accountant fired. Following investigations it came to light that she had failed to retire imprest and when Mushinge who was the accountant at Cabinet office that the time recovered the money it was pay back time. Kennedy Musonda stood his ground that he could not recommend a dismal on such a flimsy ground. Use her influence she had both Mushinge and Musonda retired in national interest. Former information minister Chishimba Kambwili has thrown back the gauntlet at his accusers of gross misconduct by saying he will exculpate himself. The outspoken Roan Member of Parliament has become a symbol of dissent in the party with a crusade against new comers in the Patriotic Front his preoccupation. PF Secretary General Davies Mwila has charged Kambwili with a charge of gross misconduct with a seven day window to exculpate himself. Kambwili said the truth will set him free pledging loyalty to the PF although there is an undeclared war taking root underground. Luanshya Mayor Nathan Chanda filed a complaint with the Secretary General accusing Kambwili of having called him a witch. Kambwili lays the blame of his dismissal on Chanda with the mining township of Luanshya seemingly becoming too small to the two huge personalities. The hunt for anything else liquidation faced Post Newspapers Managing Director Fred M’membe may have stashed away has gone beyond the borders with more trucks suspected to belong to him seized. A combined team of police officers from Zambia and South Africa impounded the trucks parked in South Africa at Freight Forwarding Company in Gemstone. M’membe’s Post newspaper was closed last year by Zambia Revenue Authority officers over a disputed tax debt. A host of creditors have come on board to claim their dues from the publication after former employees moved a motion to wind down operations. The Lusaka High Court has appointed provisional liquidators for The Post led by Lewis Mosho who has appointed a Manager of the paper in liquidation Robert Chawinga.
