I feel pity for our people. Sometimes l ask myself how is our CDF being used and what value has it added towards the development of the constituency. We have abundance of natural resources that of Lake Bangweulu but nothing has been done to woo the investors in order to attract tourism. Our MP is unspeakable, he is only seen and known during elections. I am challenging Honourable Kasandwe to come out in the open and interact with the people to appreciate their challenges. Let him come out and explain or help us understand how our CDF has been utilized in his constituency. Ever since he took up the responsibilities from 2015 to date he has only gone back once to the constituency. Transparency, honest and genuineness shall help us attain our desired goals. The MMD team on a mobilization tour of North Western Province on Wednesday visited Chief Kizela of the Kaonde people of Mufumbwe. Team Leader Mtolo Phiri said they had taken time to visit his royal highness to wish him a full recovery from the stroke he suffered recently and explain what they were doing in his chiefdom. Phiri who is the Vice President of the former ruling party said his party was in the province in a bid to revamp it and ensure that it returns its status as the strongest political party in the province. He said North Western Province was a strong hold of the party but that it had lost its grip due to the challenges the party has gone though since losing elections in 2011. He noted that from his assessment from the three districts the entourage had visited the prospects were positive and that the leadership of the party will do everything possible to return its status in the province. Phiri also took time to clarify to his royal highness that the president of the party Felix Mutati was saving in government at the invitation of President Lungu but he still remains leader of the party. Meanwhile, his royal highness chief Kizela appreciated the visit by the leadership of the former ruling party saying their visit was important so that they could explain the position of the party on a number of issues. He told the entourage that the party was appreciated in the province because of a number of development they initiated when they were in office including opening up the mines in the province. His Royal highness further urged the party leadership to clarify their association with the PF because it was confusing their members. Phiri and his entourage has since proceeded to Zambezi district where they will have meetings with party officials before meeting party structures in Kapombo district. The judiciary has announced stringent measures for journalists wishing to cover the treason proceedings for UPND president Hakainde Hichilema and others. Journalists alongside lawyers will have to be accredited to be part of the proceedings that have drawn widespread interest. According to the restrictions put by the judiciary journalists will not be allowed to use mobile phones, Ipads, tablets, cameras, and other communication devices. Proceedings for the treason charge will open on Monday in the Supreme Court of Zambia. Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) has already run with the suggestions without putting as much of a fight. Below is the apologetic statement from MISA: 11th August 2017 To all Media Houses and all interested journalists Dear Colleagues REF: ACCREDITATION WITH THE JUDICIARY TO COVER AND REPORT ON THE TREASON CASE HEARING OF THE UPND LEADER HAKAINDE HICHILEMA AND OTHERS In view of the Treason case hearing of the UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema and others, the judiciary has decided to accredit journalists from Media houses who are interested in covering the court session on Monday. Consequently, MISA ZAMBIA yesterday wrote and delivered a letter to the Acting Chief Registrar (copy of which Secretariat can provide if need be) to allow journalists unimpeded access to the court session on Monday, and also to allow them use mobile phones, Ipads, tablets, cameras, and other communication devices. You may recall that in the letter by the Judiciary Acting Chief Registrar addressed to the Lawyers of both the state and the defense in the above case, the judiciary banned them from using the communication tools which MISA ZAMBIA feels impliedly will also consequentially disarm journalists from efficiently and professionally cover the event. This morning, MISA ZAMBIA made a follow up with the chief Registrar who referred all matters to his Deputy to deal with accreditation. However, MISA Zambia has noticed that most journalists, especially may not be aware of the ongoing process which will decide who enters the premises on Monday to cover the case. MISA Zambia has further been informed that those who got their accreditation yesterday have to go back to the Judiciary so that they can be re-registered as cards obtained yesterday lack bar codes necessary for the scrutiny before accessing the court. MISA ZAMBIA therefore advises journalists and media houses interested in covering the above case to act as follow without delay before close of day today: 1. Obtain Letters from employer indicating names of reporters to cover the case; 2. Interested reporters with such letter must without delay go to the High Court for accreditation failure to which they will not allowed to cover the event on Monday. MISA Zambia further wishes to inform you that we are still engaging the Judiciary should there be any further challenges in the process of accreditation. Yours faithfully Hellen Mwale MISA Chairperson The post Judiciary Bars Use of Electronic Devices During Treason Trial appeared first on Zambia Reports.

Expelled Patriotic Front Roan Member of Parliament Chishimba Kambwili teamed up with acquitted former Lusaka Province Minister Obvious Mwaliteta to visit incarcerated UPND president Hakainde Hichilema. Kambwili has been mending fences since being thrown in the cold by the PF and has since been to Southern Province to apologize to the people that he had allegedly offended with his careless talk whilst he was serving in government. The Roan MP was also joined by UPND vice president Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba and held a closed door meeting with Hichilema at Mukobeko Maximum Prison. Kambwili has been a busy body since his fall out with the PF is plotting to form a political party although he has mounted a legal challenge to his expulsion from the PF in the Lusaka High Court.
