Former FAZ treasurer Kelvin Mutafu has urged Zambian football councillors to dismiss calls for FAZ president Andrew Kamanga’s impeachment at the March 26 annual general meeting. Some clubs have submitted motions proposing Kamanga’s removal for unspecified reasons. But Mutafu says such calls should be dismissed because they lacked merit and substance to be considered for debate at an important meeting as the AGM. BELOW IS MUTAFU’S WRITE UP The current calls for impeachment of the Faz President Mr Kamanga should be rubbished by all soccer loving citizens . The reasons being advanced for reduction of the electro college doesn’t hold. Any Faz Executive in power today could hv implemented the same as it is a fifa directive. The current Faz council is too big for any meaningful deliberation, its even bigger than the FiFa council, thus the need to reduce it, to move in line with other councils in Africa / world and FiFa itself, My appeal to councillors is to advocate for inclusion of the formation of the National football league ( NFL) in the constitution, as per the Chisamba declaration. this too was a FiFa baby and directive. If implemented it will give all leagues, Div 1, 2, 3 and Super a better Platform to manage the league with proper accountability, transparency in terms of player transfers fees and share of league sponsorship monies. An interim committee was put in place during the Chisamba declaration where I was the Treasurer, if operationalised, Faz will concentrate on national Teams as the NPL takes charge to manage the league. I therefore, appeal to councillors to look beyond personality but support ideas which will promote our unifying sport. The members of the interim committee are still very much available to complete the task of this formation which will restore confidence, to all those running clubs in this country, it’s formation will attract more sponsorship to the league, clubs will in return be rewarded for their efforts in building players unlike the case now. PSL in South African is the best example, let’s not focus on negativity bt on how best football can be managed, Having managed a club from lower division to Super at chairmanship level, I know what it takes to run a club, thus my advocating for immediate formation of the NFL to lron out the current an certainty on league management/ debate. Kelvin Mutafu. Imediate Past Faz The post Ex-FAZ Purse Man, Mutafu, Rubbishes Calls To Impeach Kamanga appeared first on Zambia Reports.

Former students union leader Antonio Mwanza has advised presidential press aide Amos Chanda to show leadership in the manner he deals with opposition leader Hakainde Hichilema. Mwanza, now an opposition FDD spokesperson, says Chanda should not use his State House position to discredit senior opposition leaders in the country. BELOW IS THE STATEMENT BY ANTONIO MWANZA “My humble advice to Comrade Amos Chanda and his boss is that they must realise that they are in power and thus people expect nothing but leadership from them,” he says. STATE HOUSE’S FIXATION OF HH It is a very common practice for Presidents and their Press Aides to hold weekly press briefings. Characteristically, these press briefings are used to update the people on the state of the nation with regards to what is obtaining in the country and what steps and measures government is taking to address those issues. Such briefings helps the government to bring the people up to date about what it is doing with regards to specific issues but most importantly these press briefings are carefully crafted to help the government push it’s own narrative about the state of the nation. Since President Lungu was elected in office, comrade Amos Chanda, the President’s mouthpiece has held a number of press briefings. What is worrying, is that instead of using these press briefings as a platform to update the people on the state of the nation and as a tool for him to push a narrative that his Government wants the people to hear and believe, he has turned these press conferences as launch pads to fire missiles and bitter savour at Hakainde Hichilema. Instead of putting the spot light on his boss and put a very positive glow on him, he always lamentably put the spotlight on HH, making him the subject of discussion at the expense of his own boss and his Government. Why should you be giving your “opponent” free publicity? That is bad strategy. You don’t help President Lungu by always discussing his opponent at every given opportunity, in fact you are doing him a disservice by highlighting his opponent. That is how Hillary and RB lost by focusing so much on the flaws of Trump and Sata respectively instead of crafting their own narrative and agenda as to why they should be voted into office and not why the other guy should not be voted into office. Your press briefings must be used to set your own tone and your own narrative about the state of the nation, not the other way round. My humble advice to Comrade Amos Chanda and his boss is that they must realise that they are in power and thus people expect nothing but leadership from them. People are not really interested in hearing state house talking about HH or any opposition leader, they are interested in solutions; they want answers from their leaders; they don’t expect cheap politicking from their leaders. Spending too much time talking about HH, and forcing him to recognise President Lungu only makes the Government look unsure about themselves, it makes them appear to be frightened little men who are not really convinced of their own victory. It confirms HH’s narrative that they didn’t win the elections. So in future let State House use its press briefings to update the people on the state of the nation and to push it’s on narrative instead of being fixated by HH.
