Lusaka Central MP Margrate Mwanakatwe yesterday took time to visit the highest learning institution in her constituency – Evelyn Hone College. Mwanakatwe, who is also serving President Edgar Lungu’s government as commerce minister, has seeming not forgotten the people that employed him. The lawmaker has not only resigned to the plush air-conditioned offices that come with ministerial positions. She has often found time to interact with members of her constituency. Yesterday, she chatted with students and also men college principle Daniel Fwambo on a tour that would help her understand the scope of challenges facing the institution. Evelyn Hone College has not been spared from perennial sanitation problems, erratic water supply, lack of equipment, overcrowding leading to shortage in bed space. The wrangling in FDD has continued with two suspended officials obtaining an injunction restraining party president Edith Nawakwi from amending the constitution to allow her stand for a third term. Chairperson for the differently abled Bwalya Ng’andu and his colleague Kaluba Simuyemba have obtained an injunction that restrains the party from suspending them. The duo has been suspended by Nawakwi for challenging her to step down from her position stating that she has overstayed at the helm of the party. Nawakwi has warned that she will not allow anyone to take over the party as she single handedly funded it during the last elections. She took over the presidency from late General Christon Tembo in 2006 and has been at the helm ever since. The post Nawakwi’s Third Term Bid Goes To Court appeared first on Zambia Reports.

Former Chipolopolo defender Hichani Himoonde has resurfaced at Super Division side Power Dynamos where he hopes to revive his career. Himoonde, who was part of the 2012 Africa Cup winning side, has seen his career nose dive in the aftermath of the continental victory. He had a stint at Congolese giants TP Mazembe before having a unsuccessful stint at Mamelodi Sundowns who loaned him to Zesco United. Since his Sundowns deal fell off Himoonde has been inactive with a brief flirtation with Nkwazi and now has been accommodated by Power Dynamos. His partnership with Stoppilla Sunzu at the national team stands out as one of the most telepathic in the Zambian game but Himoonde’s dip in form made him lose his place. The Chipolopolo have yet to find a natural partner for Sunzu with several players having been tried out in the last few years.
