[SAPS] On 7 November 2016, Nquthu Regional Court convicted and sentenced a 21-year-old uncle to life imprisonment for rape. On 23 May 2014, a ten-year-old victim was repeatedly raped by her uncle at Mondlo, Vryheid, in the absence of her mother. A case of rape was opened at Mondlo police station and the docket was transferred to Vryheid Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit and the accused was immediately arrested. The accused made several court appearances until he was sentenced.
