Richard Kazala has been allowed into the Government Complex for the FAZ Annual General Meeting (AGM) where he is due to exculpate himself before the council. Kazala was reinstated by the Kitwe High Court as the Vice President of FAZ but will have to extricate his way through the FAZ Council after the International Court of Arbitration (CAS) ruled that he be heard again. The Chingola based administrator has insisted that he would reclaim his place in the FAZ executive after he was controversially expelled last year. FAZ is currently holding its meeting under the new constitution that was adopted last year significantly reducing the number of delegates to the meeting. A number of delegates were turned away under very tight security manned by state police. The post Show Down Looms as Kazala Arrives at FAZ AGM appeared first on Zambia Reports.

Mumba was on Wednesday sentenced to three months imprisonment for provide false information to a police officer at ZNBC’s Mass Media Complex. Hichilema and his deputy Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba could not be ushered in as they could not produce the requisite identification to the prison authorities. Below is what Hichilema posted to his social media on the indicident: Greetings fellow citizens, We hope you are enjoying the Easter. It is with utter shock and disbelief that we wish to let you know that the State has refused us to visit our brother Dr. Nevers Mumba who is being held at Mwembeshi Prison in Central province. With our party vice president Mr. Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba and several other senior officials, we arrived at Mwembeshi prison around 12:00 hours and we were made to stand in the rains for close to two hours before being told that we cannot see Dr. Mumba. This is not the independence our forefathers fought for and indeed we cannot continue with this as a Nation. Dr. Mumba has the right to be visited. We also have the right to visit our brother. We are commemorating Easter and it is time for all of us to show brotherly love to everyone. For now, we wish Dr. Nevers Mumba God’s protection and to you our people out there, we say stay strong and keep Dr. Mumba in your prayers. Blessed afternoon. HH. ………………. The international data breach scandal involving UK company Cambridge Analytica has reached Zambia, as newly leaked documents appear to indicate that presidential contender Hakainde Hichilema and the United Party for National Development (UPND) may have hired the firm in the 2016 election. Cambridge Analytica is currently in hot water in the US and UK for allegedly stealing the personal data of more than 50 million Facebook users, then using that information for “psychographic profiling” to manipulate voters with fake news and targeted social media advertising, according to several whistleblowers who have gone public in recent weeks. According to an apparent letter of engagement dated 11 March 2016 from Cambridge Analytica to Hakainde Hichilema (attached below), which was leaked to several media outlets this weekend, the firm worked for the UPND in the 2016 election at a rate of $150,000 per month. The letter promised to “deploy certain third-party persuasion techniques which we have proven hugely successful in past campaigns in Nigeria. We feel that a similar approach is exactly what is needed to deliver victory to the UPND.” The whistleblower also claims that Cambridge Analytica was introduced to Hichilema by his British political advisor, Henry Sands, who previously had worked for former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan on a controversial election campaign. Documents uncovered by the Canadian newspaper the Globe and Mail show that Cambridge Analytica had boasted of using unsavoury tactics in that 2007 election in Nigeria, including vote buying and voter suppression, in addition to circulating anti-Islamic videos to stir up voters’ fears. Zambia Reports is unable to confirm the authenticity of the letter. According to a report by QZ.com, Zambia is among the list of 30 countries where SCL Elections has claimed to have worked. Henry Sands is alleged to have a close relationship with UPND, arranging a 2015 speech by Hichilema in London.
