The Patriotic Front has published a litany of allegations claiming incarcerated opposition leader Hakainde Hichilema snubbed his deputy Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba who made a first appearance at court 60 days after the arrest. GBM, as Mwamba is commonly known, was the prominent figure at Hichilema’s court appearance at which his treason charge was committed to the High Court. The last time GBM was seen around the matter involving Hichilema was on April 10 when he rushed to his leader’s home as state police raided the property. BELOW IS A NARRATIVE BY THE PF ON THE GBM-HICHILEMA RELATIONSHIP AFTER OVER A MONTH of speculation about his whereabouts, UPND vice president Godfrey Bwalya Mwamba today showed up at court for the first time to show solidarity for his incacerated leader Hakainde Hichilema. Mwamba who is perceived to have been in hiding outside the country for fear of being arrested today suprisingly showed up at the Lusaka Magistrate Court and offered solidarity to Hichilema who has been arrested and charged for treason. Mwamba has finally decided to show up after fury from UPND supporters questioning why he had abandoned Hichilema. Mwamba shook hands with Hichilema but rather than a solidarity brotherly exchange marked with warmth, a mere exchange of pleasantaries was witnessed between the two leaders. Those close to Mwamba revealed that he has been secretly plotting to take over UPND and Hichilema has gotten wind of it. It is also reported that serving members mostly ‘Tonga’s’ have also refused GBM’s proposal others who have vehemently refused GBM’s proposal are traditional leaders such as chief Mukuni, but who has allegedly received colossal amounts of money from GBM. “He has tried to work with Ba Gary, we even had a meeting nomba Gary nimbuli, (coward)… GBM offered him Vice President. GBM knows HH is not voming out soon anyway katwishi but we will be meeting with Cornelius, Maureen and a few others who do not view HH as a god,” a source revealed.
