UPND Kasempa District council chairperson Stanley Kaindu has accused District Commissioner Goodson Sansakuwa of using government buildings for political party meetings. Kaindu has alleged that the District Commissioner has been organising and mobilizating Patriotic Front cadres for meetings at the Civic Centre. Kaindu said it was disappointing that the District Commissioner has continued to engage in partisan politics by mobilizing cadres and taking them in the council chamber for meetings. He has since advised the District Commissioner not to create unnecessary tension between the two offices in the district but allow a conducive working relationship. Some meetings organised by the former MMD strongman now Patriotic Front District Commissioner are allegedly attended by the Administration Office and some Government Heads of Departments. Sansakuwa earned himself the position of District Commissioner after he ambanoded the Dr Nevers Mumba and joined the Mutati group and subsequently PF. However, efforts to get his comment in the matter proved futile as his mobile phone was off. The post UPND Kasempa Official Clash With DC appeared first on Zambia Reports.

[Carter Center] The world's newest nation, South Sudan, has succeeded in interrupting transmission of Guinea worm disease, the country's minister of health announced Wednesday at The Carter Center. As of the end of February 2018, South Sudan, which gained independence from Sudan in 2011, has recorded zero cases of Guinea worm disease for 15 consecutive months. Because the Guinea worm life cycle is about a year, a 15-month absence of cases indicates the interruption of transmission.

It’s unacceptable to give Chishimba Kambwili harsh treatment, says Vincent Chaile, president of the opposition Radical Revolutionary. Chaile says one does not need to be a rocket scientist to know that the charges levelled against Kambwili were fake. “Ancient politics of intimidation is long gone and can never be entertained in this era… “The ruling PF should know that politics is about ideas and sharing ideas and not about using state institutions to suffocate certain voices,” said Chaile. The former UNZASU president says critics of a sitting government are part of good governance in a democracy. “A good leader must be able to embrace different views… especially from his opponents. Sending opposition leaders to prison for trumped up charges will not bring food or pay rentals for Zambian people,” he said. Chaile urged the PF government to learn from the MMD and avoid being brutal to the opposition. The post Chaile Advises Against Kambwili Persecution appeared first on Zambia Reports.
