FAZ has appointed 10 provincial coordinators awarding them K1, 500 monthly allowance each. The allowance will mean FAZ, currently struggling for resources, will need an additional K15, 000 to add to the current wage bill. According to a letter of appointment obtained from one of the coordinators dated March 19 and signed by FAZ general secretary Ponga Liwewe, the coordinators will be responsible for activities in the 10 provinces. “Your immediate role is to coordinate all football activities in the Province and report to the office of the General Secretary from time to time. “Your appointment is on part time basis and that you will be entitled to a monthly allowance of K1, 500.00 only,” Liwewe writes. The appointments come about one week before the annual general meeting set for Government Complex on March 31 in Lusaka. Some of the appointed officials are worried that their roles may not be financially sustainable. “FAZ wants us to give up part of our time to organise football. That means we expect payment on time because we will be losing revenue. “Now with what is happening where people are not paid, we don’t know how this will be sustained,” one of the coordinators said. Those appointed are Henry Kawimbe (Muchinga Province), David Simwinga (Western Province), Phillip Zyambo (Copperbelt Province), Lennox Chansa (Northern Province), Hellen Mubita (Lusaka Province), Dominic Kapenda (Eastern), Francis Hafwiti (Southern), Herbert Malumbe (Central), Arthur Kamuloso (North-Western) and Ken Mwanza (Luapula).
