Former Lusaka mayor Fisho Mwale has re-opened the chapter in Professor Clive Chirwa’s sojourn to Zambia. Prof. Chirwa arrived in Zambia with a bang but his political touch could have landed him in hot soup after he had an affair with the MMD, UPND and later PF. His ending was a sad note that ended with criminal prosecution in the Zambian magistrate court. His cousin Fisho has stumbled on some of his aeronautic works and shares the story. SEE BELOW FISHO MWALE’S NARRATION SOMETIMES AM SO PROUD TO BE ZAMBIAN…..last month I flew on Ethiopian Airlines Dreamliner and I was amazed at the brightening and darkening windows which like a little boy with a new toy I kept playing with. Little did I know that the invention was by a Cousin of mine , ( I underline cousin to show am related to him) non other than ProfessorClive Chirwa, a scientist Zambia vilified as a criminal and academic impostor. Clive was professionally sodomised by his Zambia Railways board and government. For 3 years he was a “prisoner†in his own country, passport taken away . His NASA credentials or claim to be one of the world’s renown aircraft crash expert did not help. Zambia is not kind to its own heroes. So I called him up when I saw his invention and asked “Cousin was it really you who patented the invention?“ and to my joy and pride he said it was him in partnership with Splice and funded by Boeing. I wanted to ask for a loan from royalties but My chest grew with pride as a Zambian , I could not ask if he will ever come back to help his country. I remember in pain that even people who went to school called him a fraud and yet outside Zambia he is a respected intellectual. MMD die-hard youths national coordinator Gerald Chiluba has warned the Nevers Mumba’s group to stop bringing the leadership of the party into disrepute. Responding to Elizabeth Chitika who has continued to issue statements against the MMD leadership under president Felix Mutati, Chiluba said the former ruling party youths will not condone the continued attacks on their leadership and that they will mercilessly deal with anyone who will attempt to attack the party secretariat. “We want to urge one Dr Nevers Mumba with his stooge Elizabeth Chitika to desist from bringing the leadership of the party into disrepute. “MMD is a law driven political party which consistently adheres to the provisions of its party constitution, therefore any unlawful attacks and malicious statements against our leadership will not be condoned by the youths of the great party. “We want to take this opportunity to dare the Nevers Mumba group to come to the secretariat has insinuated by Elizabeth Chitika the self annointed Secretary, they shall find us and we shall mercilessly deal with them for offending the dignity and honour of our party leadership because they have now crossed the red line,” he said. Chiluba further said his party’s intra party democracy will not be derailed by selfish individuals who wants to use it for personal gains. He added that the party will continue to reorganise and ensure that it adds value to the governance of the country. “We want to assure Dr Mumba and his spurious agents of destabilization that are hellbent on derailing the MMD intra-party democracy because of their personal gains that, their mischivious behaviour will not be entertained as their time has come to an end. We the youths of party are ready to wrestle and defend the party leadership against unwarrranted attacks from political adversaries. “The party will not be distracted from its mandate of continuing to rejuvenate and reposition itself to contribute effectively to the governance and provide credible checks and balances as the party is now more alive and vibrant like never before,” he said. Former MMD President Nevers Mumba and a handful of his confidants have continued to cling on to the faint hope that the former ruling party will be handed back to him despite the Registrar of Societies having changed names of office bearers for the party. Dr Mumba disputed the convention which was held from 20th to 22nd May 2016 with a weak argument that his tenure of office would end 2017. He has challenged the convention in the courts of law but one would wonder what argument he would use as his excuse that his tenure was ending in 2017 can no longer suffice as we are now in 2018 and no convention was held in their group for them to at least claim that he has retained the presidency of the party. Copperbelt University lectures are being interrogated for unlawful confinement of vice Chancellor Prof. Naison Ngoma for allegedly failing to management the University. The deadlock at the University over demands that Professor Naison Ngoma resigns have reached another level with lecturers maintaining that intimidations of being questioned by police will not make them drop their demands. Police Copperbelt chief Charity Katanga said about 44 lecturers who include union leaders are being questioned for unlawful confinement of the vice chancellor. “Yes I can confirm that we have summoned the lectures to come and answer to allegations of unlawful confinement. As I speak statements of warn and caution have been recorded and if we find a case then the matters will be taken to court. If investigations prove otherwise again we will advice,†Katanga said. She added that the behaviour of CBU lecturers and other employees was irresponsible and police got involved to establish facts on the issue. Zambia Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) General Secretary warned the police command to stop interfering in misunderstandings involving the unionised workers and the Vice Chancellor at the Copperbelt University. The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) has observed with concern the sudden increase in the prices of disinfectants in particular chlorine in the wake of the cholera outbreak. Public relations officer Namukolo Kasumba said the increase in the price of chlorine reported to have increased by between 800% and 1000% from the observed K3-K5 per bottle to over K25-K30 is not only a source of concern but defeats the efforts by the government in the fight against Cholera. “The Commission has thus taken keen interest in this matter and has launched investigations. All traders that will be found to have increased the prices of this “now basic†item without justifiable corresponding increase in the sourcing costs will be taken to task,†she states. Kasumba says the commission has repeatedly warned businesses to desist from engaging themselves in conduct that is unfair and anti-competitive. “The applicable fines if found wanting are up to 10% of an enterprises annual turnover. Therefore the Commission will not seat idle and watch consumers being exploited in the wake of the cholera outbreak,†she added More 60 people have died since cholera was first reported in Lusaka last October with close to 3, 000 people treated countrywide for symptoms related to the waterborne disease. The Patriotic Front on the Copperbelt has suspended Provincial Youth vice chairperson Sternly Chandindi for allegedly uttering derogatory statements in the media. According to a charge later signed by PF Copperbelt Province chairman Stephen Kainga, Chandindi has been given a week to exculpate himself. The Party in the province has also asked Chandindi to stop carrying out any activities until his exculpatory is heard by the disciplinary committee. He becomes a second official to be suspended following the suspension of Provincial Youth Secretary Christopher Kalenge. But Copperbelt Province PF Secretary Mike Manda has maintained that the party is not victimising anyone with different views. He said the party has embarked on ensuring sanity on how politics are conducted in the party so as to avoid issuing conflicting statements in the media. “It is not true that we are victimising our people with different views, first of all in our party we exercise democracy and respect other people’s opinions regardless of who they are, this party was voted into office after looking at how well we offered checks and balances to MMD so why are we going to turn against our own?†Manda asked. He said, “allowing everyone to speak doesn’t mean people should start putting the name of the party in disrepute. That we will not tolerate, discipline is very important in any organisation that is why you are seeing us write to those erring so that they are advised on what is expected of them, but not meant to tarnish the name of the party.†The post PF Suspends Copperbelt Youth Leader appeared first on Zambia Reports.

Kabwe Central Member of Parliament Tutwa Ngulube could have very easily have been the man of the week given the numerous headlines he hit on the political scene. Ngulube had for a moment emerged as a crusader of conscience in the Patriotic Front fold and seemed just about anything that was wrong about the Patriotic Front. He spoke vocally about the right of members to hold different opinions within the party. He pointed out how the party had allegedly been invaded by the MMD flock. Ngulube, who has not hidden his desire to be appointed as a minister went about town scandalizing the appointment of Kwacha Member of Parliament Joe Malanji as foreign affairs minister. The youthful Kabwe lawmaker wondered when Malanji had shed off his MMD blue for the PF green notwithstanding Malanji is a ruling party lawmaker. Ngulube rumbled on about how President Edgar Lungu was ungrateful for the role the Kabwe lawmaker played as returning officer at the Patriotic Front convention to declare him winner. To crown it all Ngulube shed off all the civility his legal mind demands of him to dress down the not so respectable PF cadre Max Chongu whom he threatened to sort out. With that all the anti-ruling party forces embraced him as their new found darling. But then Ngulube thought better of everything that he had said and decided to make peace with the Patriotic Front. The question then is what the public should make of his new found peace with the PF top brass. Has he finally seen the folly of his outbursts or maybe it is just something done out of political convenience? What happened to the free speaking Tutwa that the Zambian media was almost getting used to? How long will this peace last? Ngulube was at it last year when he was dropped as party legal counsel but toned down after another of his peace moments overcame him. So should the public still take Ngulube seriously? After all another of the youthful breed in Miles Sampa has already tortured the public through his merry go round political swings.
